We have been Associate Partners of the RTRT Project. We have attended the international meetings of the project team in Belfast, Kotka and Barcelona. Through these events, we have gained much inspiration for the development of our reminiscence work and we hope to have the chance to continue as full members of the partnership.

Perpignan carte de-voeux rostand 2010We are a residential home for older people in the Perpignan region of France.
We are a multi-disciplinary team caring for older people with dementia, comprising doctors, occupational therapists, psychologists, care-workers and activity organisers.

For the last two years we have been exploring the use of reminiscence with our residents. This work with the residents has proved highly therapeutic in cognitive and physical terms, and has also had a beneficial effect on their family members who have participated in the project to support their relative.  Further it has improved and personalised relationships between staff and residents, and enabled greater communication between residents themselves.

Our work has included the making of personal "Memory Boxes" with our residents around their remembered lives. The display of the resulting Memory Boxes has also enabled the residential care unit to achieve a higher profile and greater understanding in the local community.
